The Rolling 24-Hour Block Standard
WIMIY enforces a strict rolling 24-hour clock for all item rentals. Your official rental period begins at the exact timestamp specified in your approved booking request, rather than arbitrary calendar day boundaries.
Any partial duration exceeding a 24-hour block immediately triggers the start of a subsequent full 24-hour block charge. Fractional daily usage is non-prorated.
Renters must return items on or before the scheduled end timestamp. Failure to do so impacts host availability and subsequent renters, subject to the following enforced fee schedule:
- Grace Period (0 – 30 Minutes): Late returns received within 30 minutes of the scheduled dropoff time incur no penalty fees.
- Minor Delay (> 30 Minutes to 2 Hours): Late returns exceeding 30 minutes up to 2 hours are subject to a late penalty equal to 50% of the item’s daily rate for that day.
- Major Delay (> 2 Hours): Late returns exceeding 2 hours are assessed a full 100% daily rate charge for that day, plus applicable administrative late processing fees and potential host displacement penalties.
Unapproved Extensions: Continued retention of an item beyond 24 hours without explicit host consent via the platform may be treated as an unauthorized conversion or theft, resulting in immediate security deposit forfeiture and account suspension.
- Rate Anchoring: Each 24-hour block is billed according to the rate tier assigned to the calendar date on which that specific block commences.
- Bridge Days: On transition days featuring designated pickup or dropoff schedules, initial blocks apply the pickup schedule rate, while terminal blocks apply the dropoff schedule rate.
- Local Timezone: All schedule windows, rate adjustments, and cutoff times are anchored exclusively to the physical location timezone of the item.
The subtotal generated on the item view page represents the base item price for the selected blocks. Platform service fees, local taxes, verification deposits, or optional delivery fees are itemized separately prior to submission.
Any host-approved modifications to pickup or dropoff timestamps prior to or during the rental will automatically trigger a recalculation of the total charged daily blocks based on the updated timeline.
